Two new deputy directors at ABIES

After four years with ED ABIES, Caroline Rémond passed on the role of deputy director for URCA to Sandrine Dhondt-Cordelier on 1st September 2026.

Sandrine Dhondt-Cordelier is a senior lecturer and researcher in plant physiology at the Laboratory of Induced Resistance and Plant Bioprotection (UMR INRAE 1488) at the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne. Her research focuses primarily on protecting plants against biotic and abiotic stresses through the development of biocontrol solutions. She is also interested in improving farming practices by developing and evaluating sustainable strategies.

The management team at Université Paris-Saclay GS Biopshera and AgroParisTech has been strengthened by the arrival of Cristian Trelea, leading to some changes in the corresponding persons for some units and he will be responsible for organising certain training courses for ABIES. Cristian Trelea has been a professor at AgroParisTech since 2010. His teaching and research focus on dynamic modelling and multi-objective optimisation of food and bioprocesses. He is vice-chair of the SPAB department and, until 2026, co-led the Modelling and Computational Engineering research team at the SayFood Joint Research Unit (UMR). He has co-supervised more than twenty Doctoral candidates.
