Several Doctoral prizes for ABIES doctors!
September 28 2026The ABIES Doctoral School was particularly well represented at the first edition of the Ministère de l’Agriculture, de l’Agro-alimentaire et de la Souveraineté alimentaire (MAASA) thesis prize, with four ABIES doctors among the seven prize winners.
Emma Le Merlus (UMR Agronomie INRAE-AgroParisTech-Université Paris-Saclay) and Isaline Réguer (UMR PRODIG) were awarded the Prix de l’Enseignement Supérieur, whilst Marie Marteau- -Bazouni (UMR Agronomie INRAE-AgroParisTech-Université Paris-Saclay) and Valentin Cocco (CIRED and UMR Paris Saclay Applied Economics) were awarded the MAASA Doctoral Programme Prize.
These four awards follow on from the three Dufresnoy Silver Medals from the Académie d’Agriculture received by Solène Fresco and Tristan Kistler (UMR GABI) and Marie Marteau-Bazouni (who also won a MAASA thesis prize this year
These awards highlight the qualities of the ABIES doctoral researchers, and their supervisors who have enabled them to develop their full range of skills. These doctoral projects have significant societal implications, in relation with policies on methanisation, the development of hedgerows or the reduction in pesticide use, or to the development of legume supply chains or genetic selection aimed at reducing methane emissions or bee breeding. This highlights the importance of research in informing industry sectors and public policy by providing original knowledge to help us understand the complex world we live in, which faces multiple climatic and societal challenges.
